Morigon district was part of Nogaon District till September 1989. It became a fully-fledged district on 29 September 1989, when it was split from Nagaon district. The present Morigaon district of Assam lies in the central part of Assam on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra River. Bounded by the mighty Brahmaputra on the North, Karbi Anglong district on the South, Nagaon District on the East and Kamrup District on the West, the judiciary district Morigaon encompasses an area of 1450.02 Sq. Kms.
The Project will include 16 Gaon Panchayats (GPs) of Morigaon district for its 24×7 piped water supply project in 2 developmental Blocks viz. Bhur Bandha and Mayong.The project area covers 154 villages in total.
